BA in Biology and English, Case Western Reserve University
MPH in Epidemiology of Microbial Disease, Yale School of Public Health
As an undergraduate at Case Western Reserve University, I majored in Biology and English, with a minor in chemistry. Here, I was introduced to genomics for the first time, and absolutely fell in love with it. I spent the rest of my four years focusing my coursework on ecology, evolution, and phylogenetics.
At the Yale School of Public Health, I recently graduated with my MPH in Epidemiology of Microbial Disease and could not be more excited to be working in pathogen genomic research! My thesis project, completed at the Grubaugh lab, focused on the analysis of Jamestown Canyon virus ecology and evolution, using phylogenetics to inform our understanding of its transmission patterns. Here at the Vogels lab, I will be working on developing a sequencing-based assay for tick bloodmeal identification in order to determine reservoirs for Powassan virus in the Northeast!
Outside of the lab, I play water polo at Yale and love traveling, concerts, open water swimming, watching (re-watching) movies, and spending time with my family and friends!
